1200 Saturday 3rd February
We are delighted to announce a very welcome conclusion to all the effort that the community has put in since the pub closed on 18 January 2020, through: registration of the pub as an Asset of Community Value; objecting to the proposals to convert the pub into residential use; community purchase on 9 May 2023 (funded by community shareholders and the government’s Community Ownership Fund); to the repair programme in 2023 to get the Black Horse fit to reopen.
Thanks to all the BHCG shareholders, the wonderful volunteers (over 60 of them aged between 6 and 82) and our fantastic suppliers who have completed work (in many cases for free and/or at mates’ rates).
We have found a lovely family, Simon and Tania Henson and their grown-up children, who have taken on the tenancy of the pub.
Fantastic news!

Congratulations, the Village Stores where we live in Surrey is owned by the community and is very successful. I wish you the same.
I have no doubt we will visit you when next staying with our friends in Grimston.
